Do I need a hot tub cover?
No, you don’t need a hot tub cover. But if you like saving money and doing less work and keeping a safe environment in your yard, then you will want a hot tub cover.
A hot tub cover is usually an accessory.
It doesn’t usually come with the purchase of a hot tub. But you shouldn’t think of it as an accessory. It is more of a necessity.

Let’s face it, hot tubs are expensive. Why not spend the extra money and properly protect it.
Water Conservation & Cleanliness
The whole reason behind buying a hot tub is to use it to relax and release stress. This can’t be achieved if the water in the hot tub is not safe to use.
The chemicals that are required to keep the water clean and safe will not work that well if the hot tub is open to the elements.
Cleanliness is one of the most vital aspects of owning a cover.
Hot tub water chemistry is very delicate. Leaving the hot tub uncovered will cost you more money to try and keep the water balanced.
Since hot tubs are not drained and refilled after every use. It is critical to maintaining the water chemistry between use.
If you do not have a hot tub cover or are using something inadequate. You’re going to need to empty and refill your hot tub more often to keep it clean.
Not to mention the evaporation of water from your hot tub will mean you will need to add more water. Then treat the water over and over to keep it optimal.

Place a framing square or straight edge and ruler at the corner of the hot tub. Note where the curve of the tub meets the straight edge of the tub.
